Drew Brees Sets Two NFL Records In Monday Night Win Over The Colts

Indianapolis Colts v New Orleans Saints

Drew Brees set two NFL records during the New Orleans Saints 34-7 rout of the Indianapolis Colts on Monday Night Football. Brees needed three touchdown passes to move ahead of Peyton Manning on the all-time list. He almost had all three in the first half, but his third touchdown of the second quarter was called back by a penalty.

That didn't stop him, as he threw two more touchdowns in the second half, giving him 541 career touchdown passes. Manning moves to second place on the all-time list with 539, and Tom Brady is right behind him with 538 and counting.

While Brees was celebrating breaking Manning's all-time mark, he also set the record for the highest completion percentage in a single NFL game. He completed 29 of 30 passes for 307 yards and four touchdowns. The .966 completion percentage was slightly better than Phillip Rivers' 28-of-29 performance in 2018.

After the game, Brees told ESPN that his one incomplete pass would bother him for a while.

“I’ll be honest with you, you always think about the one that you missed,” Brees said. “If I just set my darn feet and throw it to the running back, it’s 30-for-30, so that one may haunt me for a little while.”
