Experts Offer Up Ways To Keep Dogs Safe During Fireworks

Experts are offering up tips aimed at helping keep dogs safe during Fourth of July fireworks celebrations. The ASPCA says that more animals run away during the month of July than any other time of year, and some speculate the noise from fireworks could be the main factor. Vets indicate that the startling loud noises cause dogs massive anxiety, and make them fear they could die at any moment, even prompting crazed responses like running through plate-glass windows. Recommendations include playing music or the television loud during fireworks shows, tiring out dogs ahead of time, and the use of certain calming pheromones you can get from veterinarians or online.
