Florida, George and Carolinas prepare for Hurricane Dorian

US-WEATHER-HURRICANE

Hurricane Dorian is now a Category 2 storm with maximum sustained winds of 110 miles-per-hour. The National Hurricane Center's latest advisory has the storm about 105 miles east of Fort Pierce, Florida and moving to the northwest at two miles-per-hour. Dorian is expected to turn north by tomorrow night and then follow a more north-northeast track by Thursday morning.

New reports are coming in of devastation in the Bahamas. A satellite image shows much of the island underwater from Hurricane Dorian. That includes a hospital and the main highway. The main airport is also under six feet of water. At least one town was nearly wiped out and some families are still waiting to be rescued from their roofs. The storm is blamed for five deaths. The Prime Minister calls the destruction "unprecedented" and says they're "in the midst of a historic tragedy." Dorian weakened to a category two this morning, but the Bahamas face at least another day of heavy rain, high winds and storm surges. People there are being told to stay in shelter throughout the day.
