President Donald Trump claimed that "everybody's gonna be fine" while addressing the effect on his sweeping tariffs during a heated interview with ABC News Senior National Correspondent Terry Moran that aired Tuesday (April 29) night.

Trump claimed that "China probably will eat those tariffs" when asked about the raised prices on electronics, clothing and home building and claimed the American people "did sign up for it" at it was a focus of his campaign.

"Well, they did sign up for it, actually. And this is what I campaigned on. I said that we've been abused by other countries at levels that nobody's ever seen before … I could've left it that way, and at some point, there would've been an implosion like nobody's ever seen. But I said, 'No, we have to fix it.' I've -- I've wanted to do this for many years," Trump said when asked by Moran if he was downplaying concern over the tariffs' impact.

Trump also took credit for lowering egg prices, which rose to an all-time high of $8.17 in March, before dropping to $3.22, still significantly higher than the $1.46 reported in April 2024, according to TradingEcomonics.com.

"They hit me the first week, 'Eggs, eggs, eggs,' like it was my fault. I said, 'I didn't cause this problem. This problem was caused by Biden. What's the problem with eggs?' And they said, 'They've doubled it.' Well, eggs are down 87% since I got involved," Trump said. "And by the way -- and there were plenty of eggs for Easter, which we just went through."

Trump claimed he chose Moran for the interview because he had "never heard of him" and accused the reporter of "not being very nice" when he pushed back on several claims, including whether Kilmar Abgrego Garcia, a father deported back to El Salvador, had alleged MS-13 gang tattoos.

“Wait a minute, wait a minute. He had MS-13 on his knuckles,” Trump said as Moran attempted to move on to another topic several times. “It says MS 13."

“That was Photoshopped,” Moran replied, which led to Trump claiming he was unfamiliar with the reporter.

“They’re giving you the big break of a lifetime, you know, you’re doing the interview,” Trump said. “I picked you because, frankly, I never heard of you, but that’s OK.”
